Honey Changes Everything

SINCE 1923

Mel-O® Honey, Inc. has been in business since 1923, serving some of the largest retail, wholesale and food service companies in the world. From our roots, we have focused on delivery of products that have the best quality at the best price.

Located in Cannon Falls, Minnesota, our claim to fame is Mel-O® Honey, the number one consumer choice in the Midwest according to Nielsen data rankings. Not only are we number one, but of 92 different packages and blends of honey in the Upper Midwest Market, Mel-O® Honey holds seven of the top ten positions in the A.C. Nielsen retail register scan data.

Why? Because we specialize in quality.

As specialists in our field we maintain high quality standards. Our quality and service keeps our customers coming back. . . again and again.

THE BEGINNING
Old beekeeping image In 1923 a beekeeper named Melford Olson began to package his famous fresh honey at local farmers' markets. He knew that bears loved honey more than any other creature on earth, except the bees themselves and mankind.

Melford was also an artist. He began packaging his honey with the famous logo and picture of Mel-Bear. And the rest is history. As the largest honey company in the region, nearly every other honey company copied or duplicated Melford's original packaging of honey in a bear shaped bottle.

Mel-O® Honey was operated by the Olson family for nearly 75 years.

TODAY

In 1997 a new family, steeped in the Olson's traditions, began operating Mel-O® Honey, Inc. Still a privately held family company, we pride ourselves on maintaining the Mel-O® quality and its traditions of the past. Nearly everyone in our immediate family is involved in the business; we strive to please you, our customer.

In addition to other packaging Mel-O® Honey, Inc., to this day, still packages fresh, Midwest honey in its famous bear bottle.
